Letters: Gov. Inslee, Biden and face masks | Oct. 2

Will someone just do their darn job?

My daughter, who is raising an 11-year-old by herself, is still waiting on her unemployment since March 17. She has jumped through all the hoops and bulls--- just to find out that her unemployment specialist is no longer working for them. Are you kidding me? What is going on?

The governor of Washington should be humiliated. I have never seen anything like this. The run-around is almost embarrassing. How much is she required to sacrifice before they actually do their job? I know she is not the only one who has been put on the back burner and forgotten about, but it is time for the governor to get these people the money that is owed to them so someone else, like me, is not stuck with the bill. I don’t make make enough money to pay for two families!!

So Gov. Inslee, do your job, or get out!!

Biden won’t trust Putin like Trump

Biden should be the next president because he wouldn’t trust Putin, who wants to undermine the U.S. He accepts that climate change is real and needs to be dealt with immediately. He would ignore conspiracy theories and would accept reliable data.

Biden would return civility to the office. He would restore our relationships with other countries. Biden understands America is better when all social economic classes prosper. He understands that healthcare is a basic necessity for all. Biden understands that the attorney general and head of the FBI are working for the country and not for him. He would not abuse his pardoning powers and let his convicted friends off.

Biden understands that government works better when positions are filled with people who actually know something about the job. He understands that a president has to have a plan to run the country and to fight a killer virus because keeping the people safe is priority one.

Biden would honor our men and women of the military and would not disrespect them as “losers and suckers.” He would not tell 20,000 lies to lessen the trust people have in government. But maybe most of all, he would show others empathy.

Mask wearing may not be helpful

It’s interesting to see there is someone who doesn’t agree with my letter from Aug. 27 of this year. Mr. Certa says that mask wearing is helping slow the infection rate of the coronavirus, so if this true, then why has the infection rate for the most current two-week period published in the Sept. 10 edition gone up?

According to the most recent data, there were 227 new cases reported for this last two-week period, which is still 77 cases too many for Benton County. Sorry, Mr. Certa, but the numbers don’t lie. I’m afraid you weren’t very persuasive with your argument.

Too bad neither of us is running for office; it would be interesting to have a live debate.
