Time for Trump to leave White House
President Trump proclaims the COVID-19 pandemic under control. If so, why doesn’t he control it to decrease the infection rate and the death rate, rather than letting it continually increase? He’s lying, as usual – he doesn’t have the pandemic under control by any means. He knows how to do it: follow the advice of his public health officials — greatly expand testing, implement a comprehensive program of contact tracing and quarantines, supply hospitals with needed PPE and other vital equipment.
The Obama Administration left a playbook on how to prepare and handle a pandemic: it was consistent with this advice, but Trump threw it away. He could have observed the experience of other nations that successfully managed the pandemic, but he didn’t. So, while other developed countries manage the pandemic, ours rages out of control. Under previous administrations, these countries admired our democratic institutions and technological prowess. During Trump’s first years, they laughed at us as the new president’s buffoonery degraded our nation’s institutions; now they look at us in horror as Trump allows hundreds of Americans to die every day, and they won’t let Americans visit their country.
Trump must leave the White House. Right now.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Unbound ... more like unhinged. This group is making some ridiculous demands. Body cameras are not intrusive, but a safety measure for police and public alike. Defunding the police will result in more violence and crime in the community. Look what’s going on in major cities like New York and Chicago. Our local agencies rarely have issues with police brutality, but if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Prosecute for damaging statues
I’m so appalled and disgusted by the wanton destruction of our nation’s statutes by grubby socialists who don’t even understand the history behind the statues. I saw that the other day they were desecrating the statue of George Washington and burning the American flag. One, if not the most, egregious examples of this evil behavior is the destruction of a statue of Christopher Columbus. His discovery opened up a whole new continent and changed the history of the world which is still being felt today. Charles Mann’s wonderful book “1493” documents a lot of the effects. It is true that there were terrible abuses of the native people by those that followed Columbus, but he had nothing to do with that.
Somehow we must put a stop to this irresponsible and destructive behavior. Destruction of statues has nothing to do with freedom of speech or the right of assembly, nor any other rights. It is clearly against the law. I realize that these are actions designed to bring down American culture and history so that they may install a new socialist society. We must never let that happen, so it is time to act. Prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.

Why has Richland gotten so little?
Pasco will have its water park, Kennewick has Carousel of Dreams, Toyota Center. West Richland will have the Raceway and Event Center including Red Mountain Wine Center. What has Richland got? Richland could have the Performing Arts Center (a year-around attraction providing a home for outstanding organizations and performances).

COVID-19 calls up Dec. 7, 1941
Every night watching the news I feel transported back in time toward Dec. 7, 1941. My father, my uncles and thousands of others of their generation placed their civilian lives on an indeterminate hold to save the world from the existential crisis it then faced. They did so after hearing FDR broadcast his “Day of Infamy” speech over their radios. Now the USA suffers a national leadership incapable of conceiving any message like FDR’s.
Movies about the outbreak of World War II often include a scene that pans across a long line of young men (my father’s generation) waiting to join the armed services in the days following Pearl Harbor. Among them stands an old guy (my grandfather’s generation) who, upon reaching the head of the line, is respectfully thanked and dismissed. As he salutes and departs, a young officer comments, “Well, with old guys like that around, we’ll be okay.”
I now feel just like that old guy – too old for active duty, too young for the scrap heap.
So, fellow citizens, what thoughts have you for an old mathematician, wondering what he might contribute to the war against the coronavirus?

Democrats cause all our problems
Protesters highlighted the systemic racist problems that need to be solved.
The cause: Democrats control education, economics, family structures and police.
NEA-run inner-city schools cause incompetence in math, English and reading (in Baltimore’s schools only 1% of students are proficient in math and 15% in English).
Solution: Transfer kids to charter and private schools/reintroduce civics and Judeo-Christian morality.
Democrat-run universities create radical social activists with revisionist history (“1619” propaganda) and no diversity of thought.
Solution: Defund political universities.
Democrat socialist programs cause black poverty.
Solution: Enact Trump’s pro-growth policies.
Democrat governors, mayors, city councils and police chiefs keep blacks impoverished in the ghetto and on the voting plantation with substandard housing.
Solution: Bring capitalism to inner-city enterprise zones.
Democrats promote black genocide via abortion.
Solution: Defund Planned Parenthood.
Democrat-run unions prevent the firing of abusive cops and bad teachers and grant themselves huge pensions that bankrupt states.
Solution: Outlaw public unions, fire incompetents and reform pensions.
Virtue-signaling Democrats support ignorant, anti-American, Bolshevik, Marxist rioters and looters who tore down statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Grant, Columbus, St. Junipero Serra, Key, Douglass, Ghandi, et al and claim Mt. Rushmore is a White Supremacist symbol!
Solution: Imprison Antifa members as domestic terrorists.

Don’t like masks? Consider ICU life
To those of you who have no health-related reason for not wearing a mask: How about spending several 12+hour shifts, full PPE, with an ICU nurse caring for COVID-19 patients? It may be because of your selfish excuse for not wearing a mask that these patients are fighting for their life, alone, with no family by their side. Think about it!
