Replace Franklin commissioners
We remain locked down in Phase 1. So what did our Franklin County commissioners see fit to do with their time?
Force the Health District to delete their post acknowledging June is Pride Month. Policing an organization’s Facebook is literally how they’re spending their time when people’s lives and livelihoods are on the line.
When I was still working in a corporate setting, do you know what kind of leaders turned their attention to minutiae when things got difficult? The terrible ones. The ones who knew that they didn’t have any leadership skills to offer, so they resorted to distraction in the hopes of appearing to be involved.
Our county commissioners are cut from that same cloth. They’ve left us in this state of economic ruin, so they’ve abandoned their duties completely to focus on what Facebook posts should be made.
We need level-headed adults in the room and this year we have a chance to place two of them there. We need to elect leaders like Kim Lehrman and Ana Ruiz Peralta. Our county and all of our residents are done a disservice by the current office holders. It’s time to return leadership qualities to our offices of leadership.

Dozier is choice for 16th District
Perry Dozier is the candidate for the 16th Legislative District Senate seat with the most in-depth knowledge and broad experience in the district. He is a life-long district resident and holds a B.A. degree in economics. He has farmed for over 40 years. Perry has served in numerous leadership positions representing the wheat and barley industries. At the request of U.S. Sen. Patty Murray he testified before Congress on the importance of maintaining transportation options in Eastern Washington to transport commodities. During his tenure as a Walla Walla County commissioner, he was no stranger in Olympia or Washington, D.C., working on behalf of the county.
Our current and former state senators and representatives, Maureen Walsh, Mike Hewitt, Terry Nealey and Dave Mastin from the 16th District have worked with Perry for over 20 years, respect his abilities to represent the residents of the district and in fact have endorsed his candidacy.
Perry is a true statesman with integrity and character. He IS the most overall knowledgeable and qualified candidate seeking this position. I would encourage you to view his website www.dozierforsenate.com to learn more about him. Please consider voting for Perry Dozier on the primary ballot Aug. 4.

Red tape causes housing shortage
There is a housing shortage in California, Oregon and Washington generated by government red tape.
Your landlord provides a service to renters, which some renters are abusing by not paying their rent. Some are even trashing units. So what happens is the property can go back to bank because the landlord can not come up with the mortgage payments. In three months, the building goes back to the bank, which may not rent it out again for many years. Hence homelessness is rampant.
In the above states, we need movers and shakers to get the government to stop all the red tape and let buildings be built so people can be sheltered.
Our governor needs to stop interfering with rent collection and late charges. He is a real fly in the ointment. Do renters use there stimulus checks to pay rent? Some do and some do not, showing irresponsible behavior that desires biblical punishment. It seems some governors (who) are against private ownership may they be voted out of office this coming election. Our governor has been shown how much we dislike him and his extremely oppressive policies.

Some statistics on police shootings
Recently I received a letter from a close friend who is a retired police lieutenant in New Jersey. He sent me some very interesting FBI information on black citizens as follows: (1) 40 years of blacks killed by police are closely equal to the number of blacks murdered by other blacks in a single year. (2) less than 400 people a year are killed by police — 61% white and 32% black males. Black males are 58% of those killed legally by private citizens in self-defense except 75% of them are killed by other blacks. (4) Black men are 6.5% of the U.S. population but they commit 52% of all murders.(5) 90% of blacks that die of murder, die at the hands of other black people. Evidently, black lives don”t matter to “Black Lives Matter.”
If they did, they would be confronting these issues instead of ignoring them completely. A better approach is “All Lives Matter.” Tom Adams did not mention this information in his guest opinion.

Thanks to deputies who cover us all
Enough already! The ‘he, she, they said’ garbage needs to cease. When the situation hits the courts, then write about it. In the meantime, I wish to thank each and every Benton County Sheriff’s Office deputy who’s covering Benton City and the surrounding area. Stay Safe!

Trump ought to go after Nov. 3
Although Donald Trump is clearly a terrible human being, his leadership in managing the economy justifies electing him to a second term. No!!!!! Other than employing socialism to bail out soybean farmers before the COVID-19 pandemic and millions of unemployed during the pandemic, he has not shown any leadership that would justify leaving him in office now, and certainly not after Nov. 3.
There is no doubt that the economy President Obama handed over to Trump had already undergone eight years of strong recovery and certainly did not warrant the stimuli, i.e, tax cut for the wealthy and huge budget deficits, that undercut our ability to enact stimuli when the economy was crippled by the pandemic. It might be useful to note that that the cash handouts to millions of unemployed and to businesses constitute the biggest dose of socialism that I can recall in my lifetime (and I’m pretty old).
I’m bothered by the mainstream media’s failure to dispute Trump’s daily claims abut the economy. Keeping score of his lies is interesting and newsworthy, but many voters discount every lie with an unwarranted belief that he has been been good for the economy. The article, https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/9-charts-comparing-trump-economy-to-obama-bush-administrations-2019-9-1028833119#overall-economic-growth-as-measured-by-quarterly-gdp-growth-rates-has-been-steady-1, says it all.
