The man who would be king

Once upon a time, in a great republic, there was a man who would be king. With his cloud of yellow hair, he excelled at gaining popular attention. Through his clever manipulation of the Magic Lantern, he amassed an army of admirers. He got lucky and was elected El Presidente.

Following a great ball, he moved into the National Palace, a great white house in the District of Odd, where he hung his favorite possession, a magnificent talking mirror. He preened and strutted daily before his talking mirror, asking “Who is Greatest in all the land?” The talking mirror told him what he longed to hear. This pleased him.

Then a great plague swept through the land. The man who would be king was too busy strutting before his talking mirror to be bothered with leading his people. He said, “Let the Governors do it.” So they did. One day, strutting before his magnificent mirror he asked, “Who is Greatest in all the land?” The mirror was silent for a moment. Then it spoke. “Well, there is a governor ….”

An MLB test for COVID-19?

Currently, citizens impacted by COVID-19 restrictions want to escape to their normal lives. Families and individuals infected by the virus want to have the pain and loss of life stop, others want relief from illogical restrictions until the public is safeguarded from future COVID-19 outbreaks, and others want immediate lifting of all government restrictions to their rights provided by the Constitution of the United States.

Maybe a social experiment should be conducted to see how the public-at-large truly believes how serious the pandemic is and to gather medical and scientific data. Schedule two MLB games between the Seattle Mariners and New Yankees – one in Seattle and one in New York City – where attendance is paid for by the federal government. As price of admission, the fans (guinea pigs) would be required to be tested before and monitored after the games. Medical data gathered in this somewhat controlled environment might accelerate some treatment breakthroughs if the fans will participate.

How many thousands would participate in the proposed, paid attendance two games in comparison to how many thousands will attend the first MLB game after a federal or state pronouncement it is safe to attend a MLB game?

Coronavirus scam tries to get Trump

The Democrats couldn’t get President Trump with the phony Russian scandal, nor could they legitimately impeach him due to lack of evidence. The only way to get Trump was to use the Coronavirus scam to collapse the economy. The Coronavirus scam was promoted by the media and adopted by the progressive (mainly Democrat) power structure. The way this virus was handled you’d think it was the reincarnation of the bubonic plague. The facts are indisputable.

On an annual basis, approximately 50,000 people succumb to the flu. Preliminary figures suggest the coronavirus will be much less than the common flu. The coronavirus is an age stratified illness affecting mainly the elderly and people with underlying health issues.

At last count, approximately 400 people worldwide under the age of 30 have been victims of coronavirus, yet the Democratic power structure implemented draconian measures and shuttered our society. Why doesn’t the local (only) print media keep a daily running tally of the deaths attributed to the flu. I suspect this would not promote their agenda.

Finally what gives our governor, King Inslee, the authority to shut down fishing. Oh I forgot the fish carry the virus.

Editor’s note: As of about 5:45 p.m. PDT on April 21, the U.S. count of COVID-19 deaths had reached 44,444 since the first reported death on Feb. 29, according the The Washington Post’s COVID-19 coverage.

Will Pelosi hoard all the ice cream?

Supposedly, in 1789, Marie-Antoinette, wife of King Louis XVI, was told that her French subjects had no bread. In response, she is remembered for saying, “Let them eat cake.” The queen became a hated symbol of the decadent monarchy and fueled the revolution that led to her execution by guillotine. But hey, it’s probably a myth and no one would be so stupidly arrogant. Not so. We have real history unfolding before our very eyes and ears. Can you believe Nancy Pelosi recently bragged nationally about how much ice cream she has stashed away while people are standing in lengthy lines for extra food to survive the corona lockdown. BTW, her attitude is repeatable.

Remember her harsh word about young children? I’m surprised she didn’t say “Feed ‘em ice cream”.

Chinese actions fail his smell test

For years, China has been manipulating its currency, negotiating unfair trade deals, stealing technical secrets, had access to our universities and more. All this was possible due to the corruption of our politicians or their incompetence. Then all of a sudden they ran into a stone wall called Trump. He could not be bought, conned or cheated. Fair trade deals were being negotiated for the benefit of America. China was being squeezed not only because of this but also because of uprisings in Hong Kong.

Then shortly after a trade deal was negotiated, which was detrimental to them, a virus exploded out of Wuhan, China, (and it) would not allow foreign countries to help; expelled several U.S. investigative journalists and got rid of two doctors who were beginning to tell the truth. They waited several weeks before informing the world of the problem. Meanwhile, they restricted domestic travel by Wuhan residents but allowed them to travel internationally. They and the WHO supported a bogus story that the virus was caused by bats, which were being sold in the market near the Virologist Labs.

This not only doesn’t pass the smell test, but it stinks to high heaven. Let’s let the world know and then retaliate.

‘Pretty sad’ about sums is all up

Bob Cummings’ April 12 letter about what he considers “sadly humorous” sniping from Trump critics regarding the slow response to COVID-19 precautions is sad all right, but not that humorous. Like Trump himself, Cummings insists, without any evidence to support his claim, that “Democrats’ heads would have exploded!” had earlier travel restrictions been put in place. Really? Not sure about that, but it’s pretty clear fewer people would have been exposed and as a consequence, fewer people would have died.

Trump’s lies to this point, (e.g.,windmill noise causes cancer, toilet flushes are up, “I’m a very stable genius”, etc.), while exhausting and endless, have not resulted in Americans being put at risk. His coronavirus fabrications, however, are a different story. It’s almost the end of April, Mr. Trump: Where’s our miracle?

Cummings and others will never admit it, but they have been conned by one of most prolific elixir salesmen of the modern era. Fealty to their carnival barking leader is puzzling for sure, especially when combined with evangelicals suspending their respect for the Seventh and Ninth Commandments when it comes to Trump. Mr. Cummings is right about one thing: It’s “pretty sad.”
