Tumbleweeds: Out of Twilight Zone
Does anybody remember Rod Serling’s “Twilight Zone” show about the tumbleweeds surrounding the town?
That came to mind when I heard about the tumbleweeds on the Highway 240.

Election cheating routine for GOP
Several congressional republicans have stated something to the effect, “What the president did was improper (unsavory, inappropriate, etc.), but not impeachable.” Conversely, some congressional Democrats have argued that these Republicans couldn’t possibly believe this, as the known facts and the nature of the offense (cheating at an election) are most certainly impeachable.
I think this is being completely unfair to these Republicans.
Remember, the Republican Party embraces voter purges, voter ID laws, closing polling places in “certain” neighborhoods, restrictions on early voting and many more practices that are specifically designed to prevent “free and fair” elections; in other words, cheating at an election. Why would they think that soliciting help from foreign governments to cheat at an election is impeachable?

Impeachment is tearing us apart
Can my heart be any heavier? Impeachment is tearing our country apart, and the whole world seems to be no better. And I just read a bit of local news that makes me even more upset than I was. The day of the anniversary of Sandy Hook, the Herald published an article about the petition to impeach Inslee and Ferguson for trying to do something about gun violence … not mess with anybody’s Second Amendment rights. By that day, 25,000 people had signed the petition. Today I read that the number is up to 65,000 signers! As you said, “a gunman with a semi-automatic rifle” shot 20 first graders and six educators within minutes. What are you people who signed that thinking? How many holes do you need to shoot into a deer in a few minutes? How many kids do you need to wipe off the face of the earth? Please think.

Highway wall needed
Follow up (on letter titled ) “Here’s a wall that needs to be built.” It is time for our local and state elected officials to get on board and put some action into getting the wall built on Highway 395 from Yelm to Ely Street.
I spoke with an administrative assistant in Olympia; she stated there is no funding because there are too many projects on the west side. I was disheartened by this statement. This office should be representing our interests in Tri-Cities. Does it sound like our interests are being represented? Sounds to me I was told, too bad, now move on. Our project would be a drop in the bucket to the billions of monies allocated to projects every year.
I have had letters written by the City of Kennewick to state officials, however, nothing can be done until legislation is passed for funding. Sen. (Sharon) Brown, will you put the squeeze on to get this done? Will all our representatives help us out? Forty years is too long to wait for this wall.
As I stated in the first letter, we are in Tier 2. Let me tell you what that means, it is the never going to happen tier.
Help!
Linda Tenny, Kennewick
