Letter: Rainier day trip inspiring to her
Visited Mt. Rainier National Park with my son a few weeks ago. I’m not much of a hiker these days but he makes it easier for me when he carries “hiking sticks” in his trunk.
What is awe-inspiring is the imagination of those who’ve gone before us, with the engineering skills, the foresight, to capture and preserve such indescribable natural beauty for us, to this day. And that it’s just one highway and one two-mile trail.
Although the only “wildlife” we saw was a scampering chipmunk, there’s always hope they are up there somewhere.
I hope there are van and bus accesses for students to take field-trips on occasion. Such access for aspiring writers, photographers, forest rangers, or just happiness seekers shouldn’t be wasted. Especially for hopeful and exploring young minds. (Weekends are busy, watch for detours).
In this age of Trump, “use it or lose it.” You never know.
