Letter: Let’s hear evidence in open court

Should Americans trust the Justice Department’s Mueller to do his job fairly? The Republican Party has been sowing seeds of distrust. Why? Because the tactic worked in 2016, getting Trump elected.

The FBI Inspector General’s June report asserted Comey violated institutional norms by acting in a manner intended to damage the Democratic presidential campaign. It is ironic Comey’s Justice Department career was abruptly ended by a Republican, given the support the FBI has long given the Republican Party.

Republicans still need something to discredit Comey’s testimony that Trump asked to end the special prosecutor’s investigation. Will Devin Nunes’ and others’ ongoing campaign of lies foul the special prosecutor’s case against Trump? Only if you believe them.

Trump acknowledged to the special prosecutor that he was lying when he denied crafting the false statement Don Junior gave to investigators. In that memo, he asserted that none of the meetings with Russians in Trump Tower had anything to do with soliciting illegal assistance for his campaign.

Other evidence gathered has proved that to be factually incorrect.

There is ample evidence of criminal activity to warrant a trial. Manafort is in jail. Flynn pled guilty. Hear the evidence in open court.
