Letter: Country thriving under Trump, GOP
Mr. Husa seems to enjoy criticizing the Republican Party and conservatives in general (Republican Party weakness, Jan. 17).
But he doesn’t provide many specifics.
Even though President Trump may not be the most qualified president, at least he has done some things that are beneficial to us all.
Victory over ISIS in Iraq was declared after a concentrated effort by U.S. forces.
A tax bill was passed that also eliminates fines on people who are without insurance.
He appointed a Supreme Court justice so that the late Justice Scalia’s seat will remain an originalist.
He has withdrawn and modified several Obama administration regulations, including the Clean Power Plan, that imposed significant economic costs.
His education secretary has withdrawn Obama-era regulations that led colleges to lower the burden of proof for sexual-misconduct allegations.
He has blocked international funding to organizations that promote or perform abortions.
The Environmental Protection Agency run by a Trump appointee no longer practices “sue and settle” in which activist groups get the agency to adopt new policies through lawsuits.
In short, Mr. Husa’s contention that the Republicans are at the root of what is wrong with America has a liberal bias.
