Letter: Mom votes yes again
Mom is 99, into her 100th year of life.
She did not want to write a letter supporting the school levies, but she clearly informed me they were important.
When I asked why she always voted “yes” for schools, she responded, “Because it is the right thing to do.”
Digging deeper, I asked why. Is it to give children a chance for a better life? Is it to make children better citizens for tomorrow? Do you think education supports democracy? Do you believe all children deserve a future, a career?
Her response was, “All those things.”
Even at 99 years of age, Mom is still on firm ethical ground. Once again, she is teaching her children what is “the right thing to do.”
Thanks, Mom!
