Letter: Support school levies

I am privileged to be a principal in the Kennewick School District. On a daily basis, I see our community’s tax dollars put to good use.

I am also a father of two children who have grown up going to Kennewick schools. I am grateful for the education and opportunities they have had going through Kennewick schools.

The Kennewick School District is one of the top school districts in our state. We have the opportunity to once again support our schools with the upcoming levies.

One levy is to renew the current one, and the other will support bringing more technology into our schools.

It is important to continue to support our schools and programs to what we have become accustomed to.

Levy dollars account for 11-12 percent of the KSD budget. Things such as safety, maintenance, additional staff, sports, music, and instructional support are funded through levy dollars.

Those are some, but not all of the many essential parts that make up our successful system.

Please join me in voting “yes” for the levies and continuing all of fantastic things that the district has put in place for all of our children.
