Letter: More laws don’t work
I find it very troubling that a nation with a Constitution is constantly under attack having the absurd inclination to blame an inanimate object for the actions of attitude.
The gun is incapable of doing nothing on its own and like a car, knife, or bomb needs an operator.
Dan Thomasson’s commentary Dec. 13 makes no mention of our Constitutional rights, instead attacks the NRA and our natural right to self-defense siting even more gun laws which he thinks will solve the problem.
It won’t.
I find it highly hypocritical of anybody who wants to ban guns and then uses that same Constitution for their own purposes.
It’s a radical assault on our liberty and rights as free citizens to even suggest more laws when more laws haven’t worked.
It’s not about more laws. It’s about control and nothing more. This is how tyrannical governments start.
The Second Amendment is a 27-word sentence, very clear in scope and content, and can’t be confused with anything else, although there are those that will try.
A nation of just and righteous laws is a nation that thrives, and our Constitution, after nearly 230 years, is just that.
