Letter: The blame game
In his Dec. 14 letter, Gary Boothe places much of the blame for the woes of the progressive left on religion.
He further blames Russia, rich people, and gerrymandering, among other reasons.
Consider that studies have shown faith in America has been on the decline for the past 40+ years and, moreover, religion has been under attack by the left for a very long time.
A perfect example is the 1954 Johnson Amendment that prohibits churches from direct political involvement, such as endorsements or contributions.
Consider:
- The bulk of the damage associated with Russian meddling was the leaked emails from the DNC and Clinton campaign demonstrating the Democratic Party and Clinton’s unethical collusion.
- Nine of the top 15 top political contributors (rich people) in 2016 gave entirely to Democrats and liberal movements.
It is a favorite pastime of progressives to attack everyone but themselves for their grievances, while conservatives tend to look within and make the necessary adjustments to forge ahead.
Mr. Boothe and his Democratic fellows should consider the same.
