Letter: Oz ruined by obstructed view at Toyota Center

I recently attended the traveling Broadway production of the Wizard of Oz at the Toyota Center. This is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I was really looking forward to it. I wish it had been a pleasant experience, but due to a very large speaker tower positioned directly on the left-hand side of the stage (there was plenty of room for it just off stage), from my seat I was only able to see the right side of the stage.

All of the main sets — including the farmhouse before and after dropping on the witch, the trees in the haunted forest and the wizard in Oz — were completely hidden from view. My tickets should have been sold as “view obstructed” as I have seen with some concert tickets. Luckily I knew what was happening when I couldn’t see it so I could follow the story line, but I paid full price for the ticket. I should have received the full experience. Those seated to the left of me had an even poorer view, and they left before intermission. The actors did an excellent job and costumes were wonderful.

I am disappointed in the venue.
