Letter: Let Congress know: new tax plan is no good
The “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” is the biggest scam the American people have ever seen.
It isn’t about putting more money in your pocket.
It’s about giving the wealthiest even more wealth at the expense of working- and middle-class Americans.
If it passes, families across our state and country will see key services stripped away. These programs are the foundation of a modern society — they’re how every community thrives.
Only the very wealthy will be able to afford things like healthcare or a college degree at the expense of the middle class.
Their tax cuts are permanent, middle class cuts are temporary. Says it all right there.
Our country used to stand for justice and equality. We used to believe in taking care of our neighbors. We used to want every person, regardless of background, to achieve success.
Apparently Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan have decided that it’s time for some new values: greed, exploitation and cruelty.
The GOP tax bill must be stopped before it’s too late and working- and middle-class people are forced to pay for their own destruction.
Call Rep. Newhouse today and tell him to vote “no” on the tax bill and stand up for working.
