Letter: Pherigo’s flag reminds us of the value of freedom

Every time I drive to Spokane and drive by “Our American Flag” hanging so proudly on top of the hill between the north- and south-bound lanes of Highway 395, I thank the service men and women — past, present and future — for our freedom!

And I thank Mike Pherigo, who is a proud Vietnam veteran, for having the forethought and the strength to put that flag on top of that hill to share his part of “Our American Flag” with everyone that drives that stretch of highway! I had the pleasure to work with Mike for 10 years. He is the true meaning of a proud American, and for that I thank you.

God bless you, Mike Pherigo. You are not forgotten.
