Letter: People, not guns, are doing the killing
In regards to the letter “When will we learn from ‘acts of pure evil’?” (Nov. 7), I thought your input was relatively true. But sounds like you are blaming the NRA and the good people for the evil in this world. Guns need someone to pull the trigger; they can’t fire by themselves.
Guns are inanimate. People and their well being and the way they were raised are the issue here. If people can’t or won’t respect other people, they were brought up wrong. If it weren’t for two good and able bodies who came running to the church in Texas, more people would have been killed. We need more people who are able and willing to legally carry, to do so. Then, fewer idiots who do not care for life could kill anyone or anymore.
So the NRA and the good people who put their lives on the line to protect people who they don’t know ought to be thanked, not ridiculed.
Besides, like the old adage says, “If you take away guns from the law-bidding citizens, only the criminals will have guns.” Then where will we be?
To maintain safety and security, we need to be able to fight the real evils.
