Letter: Blame racial violence on those who commit it

The way to to conquer racism is not with a bat or a board with nails in it. It is not by throwing urine and feces into someones face. It is not by driving a truck into a crowd. It is not by dividing us into groups and labeling one group against the other. It is not by blaming all racism in America on one person. It is not by forcing people to pay for someones else's crime that was committed generations ago when they were not even born yet.

It is not fair to say one group that dresses up in white sheets and covers their face and commits acts of violence and hates black people is worse than another group who dresses up in black and covers their face and commits acts of violence and hates white people. You conquer racism by individual responsibility and accountability, and by treating others as you would want to be treated.

If we held each individual who committed violence towards another person, black or white, responsible for their own actions, and we stopped blaming others who were not even present, our country could move on and we could live together in peace.
