Letter: No preview for cross country? C’mon Herald

I was quite surprised on Nov. 7 to see that there was absolutely no mention of that day’s State Cross Country Championships in Pasco other than one line under “Area Schedule.”

In the past, there has been at least one article highlighting the athletes to look out for, along with a schedule of this day-long event. This year, however, there was no schedule of events, no mention of our local outstanding athletes such as Geraldine and Johan Correa from Kennewick High, Riley Moore and Katie Andrus from Richland High, or the girls team from Hanford and Caleb Olson, also from Hanford.

This event draws the top runners from Washington — we are fortunate to host it here in Pasco — and it shouldn’t be overlooked. I hope that next year we can look forward to having a larger recognition of this event in our paper.
