Letter: Boeing’s case against Bombardier smacks of hypocrisy

Here we go again: Boeing is crying foul play when in fact it’s guilty doing the same thing. Desperately trying to avoid bankruptcy, Bombardier, a struggling Canadian aerospace manufacturer, is compelled to partner up with Airbus, the European aircraft company and Boeing’s only other legitimate commercial competitor, so that it could remain viable and produce its latest offering: the Bombardier C Series aircraft, 75 of which have been ordered so far by Delta.

This continual enabling of Boeing’s monopolistic behavior by its home country must stop; such policy reeks of protectionism. All enterprise should be allowed to compete equally in open markets without any favoritism given.

Boeing needs to stop relying on trade advantages supplied from the conservative branch of Congress and fend for itself in what should be a free market. Both consumers and workers everywhere will benefit from this approach.
