Letter: As Trump falters, Republicans need to rise up

The lack of fitness of Donald Trump (or Drumpf, for those who insist on calling things by their right names) for the office he holds is now generally recognized, even by his fellow Republican office holders. Ignorance, cruelty, vengefulness, compulsive lying, self-aggrandizement, greed, anger, a short attention span, a penchant for blaming others, and gold-plated toilets are not credentials.

The only promise he has kept is the one about running the country like he runs his businesses. The results are not encouraging. It is reasonable to assume that what we have seen during the last seven months from the current Oval Office occupant will typify his remaining, hopefully short, tenure.

The great question now is not about Trump, it is about Republican members of Congress. They know what needs to be done. Why don’t they do it?

Paging Dan Newhouse!
