Letter: Trumps reaction to Charlottesville not surprising

I was not surprised by Trump’s initial response to the abhorrent events in Charlottesville.

In his initial response, Trump refused to lambast the group of white supremacists, neo-Nazis and fascists. I was not surprised because these abominable radicals are Trump’s supporters, and he doesn’t like to criticize them. As a matter of fact, after listening to a multitude of Trump’s speeches, I concluded long ago that Trump himself is a white supremacist, he is ignorant, he is a chronic liar, and he is very likely mentally ill.

Why anyone would not come to this same obvious conclusion is still a mystery to me. Furthermore, I wonder why nearly all white supremacists, neo-Nazis, fascists, religious fanatics, and those who don’t believe in absolute equality for everyone regardless of sex, race, religion, sexual persuasion, or economic status, voted for Trump. I can only hope that it at least bothers the Trump supporters that they are in the same basket with these “deplorables.”
