Letter: Al Gore the energy glutton
Based on a conservative think tank, former vice president Al Gore has a carbon footprint at least 21 times larger than the average American. His environmental documentary An Inconvenient Sequel opened on Aug. 4, so the conservative think tank figures it was the perfect time to accuse the former vice president of hypocrisy.
Drew Johnson, who authored the study, says that Gore’s 20-room, 10,070-square-foot mansion used nearly 231,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in the last 12 months, compared with less than 11,000 for an average American house. His findings also indicate that the amount of electricity Gore uses to heat his pool each year could power the average U.S. home for six years.
Johnson said Gore pays about $27,000 in annual electric bills for his Nashville home alone, and that does not include the other two houses he owns.
Isn’t it about time he is exposed for the fraud he is?
