Letter: Drain the swamp
President Trump campaigned to “drain the swamp.” Great idea. What has happened? Nothing. The swamp is just as active now as it has been for years. What could be done to pull the drain plug on the swamp?
Term limits for members of Congress, the Senate, and the federal judiciary system including the Supreme Court, court of appeals and federal district judges.
To accomplish this, it would require a constitutional amendment. Representatives would be limited to four years in office. Senators would be limited to six years in office. Political appointees would be limited to two years in service. Term limits for the judiciary would be, the most senior member would go first.
English would be the official language of the United States. No federal benefits for non-English speaking people.
A balanced budget would be required within three years after enactment. Only during time of declared war could a budget be out of balance and only for national defense.
No federal money for welfare, health care, department of education, disability, child care for non-citizens. If you come here to live and work, don’t expect any federal handouts.
4. Proof of citizenship would be required to cast votes.
