Letter: Need a state of the art theater
I am so excited about the possibility of a state-of-the-art theater coming to our community. I enjoy attending Broadway plays, but in order to see a quality show I’ve had to go to Seattle or Spokane.
The Toyota Center was never meant to be a venue for theater, it’s a hockey arena! The acoustics are bad, the seats are uncomfortable and it’s cold! (You’re sitting on ice.) Imagine having first-class plays, concerts and musicals right here that can have more than one performance! The tax burden won’t be born only by the residents of Kennewick. We have people from all over the Tri-Cities, southeastern Oregon, Yakima, and the Valley shopping and spending money in Kennewick.
The Three Rivers Convention Center is in dire need for the expansion, as more and more conventions are going to other cities due to the lack of space, therefore we are losing a considerable amount of money to outside venues.
It’s time for us to become competitive and grow!
