Letter: Spirits renewed by Good Samaritans

As we were losing faith in humanity, while we witness rude “me first” competitive drivers and shoppers, and soulless acts of violence in the news, our spirits are renewed by the army of good Samaritans and caregivers who responded when my wife tripped and fell in the Yoke’s parking lot last month.

About five people came to her immediate aid. Two men tried to get her on her feet. She couldn’t stand due to pain in her leg. A couple, visiting from out-of-state, shared a first aid kit and bandaged her bleeding arm and hand. Another lady called 911 and summoned the ambulance. One of these ladies wheeled the still-loaded cart of groceries back into the store and explained the circumstances. Yoke’s personnel refrigerated the groceries and kept frozen the items requiring same, until, with a neighbor’s help, I could pick them up.

After a visit to the emergency room at Kadlec, she was admitted with a fractured pelvis. One week of doctor and nursing care, one week of physical therapy and occupational therapy, spiritual support from our church and friends, and she is home. Many many thanks to all as the recovery continues.
