Letter: Talking or texting while driving should be a major crime

How many more people have to die before the state or federal government passes a law to make driving while using a phone or texting a major crime, and takes away your driving privilege for at least a year with a $1,000 fine?

Also say that texting or talking was involved so people know how many times this is happening. Don’t just call it distracted driving. Phones should be required to not work when moving above 5 miles per hour.
