Letter: Right-wing websites sprang up in reaction to mainstream media

Nicholas Kristof takes a swing at the fake and sensationalist nature of a number of right-wing so-called news websites (“Lies in the guise of news in the Trump era,” TCH, Nov. 15).

The problem is that if the mainstream media had done their jobs in reporting the news in a nonpartisan manner, those sites wouldn’t have had as much traction as they did. In fact, it was wall-to-wall Hillary Clinton this and Hillary Clinton that, and hardly any mention of the corruption and lies surrounding her and Bill’s past history. Not to mention her deplorable attitude toward anyone disagreeing with her.

When two-thirds of the public views the press as dishonest and partisan, no wonder those other websites were springing up and Donald Trump won the election.
