Letter: Remember veterans’ sacrifices all year long

Every year on Nov. 11, our nation sets aside a day to honor our military veterans. On Veterans Day, Americans pause to commemorate the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our country and protected our freedom. It is also important to thank our military families for their sacrifices.

Let us all acknowledge and express our gratitude this Nov, 11, but let us also remember those sacrifices all year long. The courage and patriotism of those who serve has remained steadfast and one day is not enough to say thank you to the more than 20 million veterans living in our country today.

Peggy Hoggarth, executive director, American Red Cross
