Letter: Rep. Newhouse’s office not responsive to constituents
A mailer I received from Congressman Dan Newhouse said, “If you have a problem with a federal agency, or if you need assistance in obtaining a passport, my office can help.” I contacted Newhouse’s office on May 5, 2015, concerning some government issues, but after talking and corresponding with several aides, I have no record of them addressing those issues as of Oct. 24, 2016. His office staff did not respond after I contacted them several times.
Calling his Washington, D.C., office did not result in a better response. I was accused of receiving responses which I had not. One person didn’t return my phone call, thinking that it is was unnecessary, as I understand. On May 31, 2015, during the Wildfire Roundtable, I was only able to speak to Dan Newhouse very briefly concerning the lack of responsiveness, but no one from his offices contacted me afterward. Even a local business mentioned found that his office was less user-friendly than the previous congressman’s office.
On the same mailer listed above, it says, “Proudly Serving the People of Washington’s 4th District.” It is clear that he has not been doing this concerning local issues for everyone.
