Letter: Armed occupiers should be treated the same as other protesters

I believe in equal treatment under the law. So the next time armed militants occupy federal or private property “peacefully,” they should be treated the same as North Dakota pipeline protesters and be forcibly removed by law enforcement officers.

And the moment they brandish their guns, they should be treated like any inner-city teenager who is holding anything looking like a gun — the authorities may legally shoot to kill. If you tolerate what goes on in the cities, you must accept the justice of applying the same rules.
