Letter: Initiatives do not benefit the voting public

You are urged to vote no for initiatives 732 (carbon tax), 1464 (campaign financing), 1501 (public records, vulnerable adults), 735 (corporate election contributions) and 1433 (minimum wage).

Initiative 732 will raise our electrical bills and increase the gas tax and our cost of living by increasing the cost of doing business in Washington. Initiative 1464 uses state tax money to fund politicians, which we don’t need. Initiative 1501 is an example of how laws already exist to protect vulnerable adults, but by using hidden wording in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) a union is using the initiative process to benefit the union. Initiative 1433 on the minimum wage may benefit the Seattle area, but will hurt local businesses and small businesses across the state.

Voters need to realize that many of the issues are written by organizations and businesses to benefit them and not the voting public.
