Letter: Herald missed salient point in Clinton endorsement

While I am not surprised with the Herald’s recommendation of Hillary Clinton for president (Oct. 30), I am disturbed that the editorial board misses the most important point in this election — namely the constitutional crisis we face due to the complicity of the Justice Department and FBI in covering up the investigation into Clinton’s violation of the Espionage Act and Freedom Information Act.

We have lost our republic if high-level politicians are held to a different standard that the average citizen. But the entire fiasco could have been eliminated if a proper investigation had been performed, including the empaneling of a grand jury and naming of a special prosecutor — as was done in the Watergate case. Instead the FBI director allowed himself to be dragged down into the Clinton mess by caving to the pressures of the president and his administration and not bringing charges against her.

I don’t know what the Democrats do now, but they have a very tainted candidate. The Herald should apologize to its readership for missing this most salient point and should now recommend Trump for president. If Trump doesn’t work out, then let’s not hesitate to use the tools to remove him per the Constitution.
