Letter: Rebecca Francik will work to solve Washington’s problems

I urge voters in Washington’s 16th Legislative District to vote for Rebecca Francik.

Rebecca has been a dedicated public servant as a member of the Pasco City Council, acting as a voice of reason. She has helped to lower city taxes, decrease the crime rate, and improve services to residents at a time when Pasco’s rapid growth has been a challenge for all public systems and services. Additionally, Rebecca is a respected educator with the Pasco School District. Her opponent has no local government experience, and offers no fresh solutions to our state’s challenges.

Washington state is being sued for its longstanding failure to fund basic education, and the shameful failure to provide basic mental health services for all its citizens, including children, adults, and those who are incarcerated. Our next Legislature must make progress with our state’s needs, not block progress. Rebecca has the ability to work in a bipartisan manner to achieve solutions.

This is an opportunity to elect an experienced leader who will work to solve Washington’s problems, not ignore them. Vote Francik.

Gretchen Patrick, Pasco
