Letter: Why I am voting no on Initiative 732
“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”
This quote, from the Global Warming Petition Project (petitionproject.org), was authored and signed by thousands of climate and earth scientists, including Dr. Reid Bryson, the founder of modern climatology, and Dr. Patrick Moore, Greenpeace co-founder.
True science, such as the Vostok ice core sample project, shows climate change occurs, and always has occurred naturally. Greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, make up 2-plus percent of the earth’s atmosphere, and without them, life could not exist. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant and is not regulated by the Clear Air Act. Plants use CO2 in the photosynthesis process.
The climate change “crisis” is based entirely on unproven computer modeling, driven by a disruptive political agenda. Voting to curb or eliminate the use of petroleum places Washington at a proportional economic disadvantage. I-732 is a gigantic fraud, and is why I am emphatically voting no.
