Letter: Officials circumvent voters’ will with higher vehicle fees
I just went to the license agency to renew the tabs on my 1977 Chevy pickup. Last year, the tabs were $58. When the nice lady told me that will be $81, I thought there was a mistake. So how can this be?
Well, it seems our trusted elected officials have added another fee to Gwt/Veh wt. I am not sure if it is on the tonnage of my truck (6000 pounds) or the weight of the truck (4862 pounds).
Either way, it seems they (our trusted officials) have managed to just hit us with more fees, circumventing the $35 tabs that we the people voted in. I am not sure which of our elected officials managed to sneak this one by the public, but it is time to clean house in Olympia and put some people in there who will do what the public wants and stick to it instead of inventing ways to get around it.
