Letter: Cartoon about Sept. 11 was timely, not distasteful
I was very dismayed to read a letter attributing bad taste to the political cartoon from Sunday, Sept. 11. In fact, I feel that the writer did not understand the reality of the warning the artist was portraying. I feel that we have, sadly, started to forget the tragedies of that day in 2001.
I admit with embarrassment that I was more focused on the Seahawks than the event, until my husband pointed out the date. I do not believe I am alone in needing reminders, and as each year passes I see less and less about it.
I do agree, though, that we must not forget. The lives that were lost, the country's pain, and the joining together as one to recover and rebuild are especially memorable and desperately need to be remembered. Good on you, Tri City Herald, for running this cartoon. It was not distasteful, but was, in fact, timely. Thank you.
