Letters to the Editor

Letter: Why do we elect judges to office?

Why are the good citizens of this county, or state, empowered to elect judges to office?

Do we pick those whose performance we know nothing about? Perhaps we pick those with the most signs, the biggest signs, the best-placed signs? And those signs cost a lot of money, so I presume these positions pay a lot of money.

Why is this obscure privilege not extended to include all the various courts? Surely there is a better way.
