Letter: Baby boomers are last generation to work their tails off

Mr. Tankersley’s Nov. 8 analysis about boomers pillaging America’s economy is all wrong. The real reasons are Social Security and Medicare.

The problem started right after Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed Social Security into law. Rather than leaving Social Security funds alone, the federal government started using the money to fight wars, grow unfunded entitlements and grow government. It has continued and will continue until the funds are completely gone. If they had left the funds alone, there would have been more than enough to keep it funded until the next Ice Age.

Baby boomers are probably the last generation to work their tails off. Evidently Mr. Tankersley failed to do his homework, because his analysis is all wrong.
