Congratulations to Tri-City Class of 2020 | Editorial

Of all the high school graduating classes that have ever been, we are most impressed with the Class of 2020.

As a group you have shown dignity and grace under unfortunate circumstances, and for that you will always be remembered.

Your final few months of school were supposed to be spent with friends. But instead you had your last day of school in March because of the COVID-19 stay-home order. Athletes who wanted one last moment with teams, musicians who wanted one more school concert, and other students who thought they would have one more — of anything, found that their dreams and plans were not to be.

You found yourselves suddenly isolated, finishing up school assignments online. You had all the work and none of the fun, and yet the Tri-Cities heard no complaint.

The Class of 2020 accepted what had to be done and did it. Remember your achievements are important, regardless of the size of the celebration.

Many of you received diplomas this weekend. Other graduating seniors are expected to get theirs later in the summer.

To all of you, we wish you the best — the strong and resilient Class of 2020.
