How long will this wind last? Plus, big temperature drop coming

The Tri-Cities is under a wind advisory until 11 p.m. Wednesday, but strong gusts will continue for a few more days.

Sustained wind speeds of up to 28 mph are forecast, with wind gusts of up to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday night wind speeds should slow some, but the rest of the work week will still be breezing.

Gusts up to 22 mph are forecast for Thursday and blasts up to 28 mph on Friday.

Some rain is possible on Wednesday, but patchy blowing dust is expected at other times until the wind dies down.

With the wind will come a drop in temperatures that will continue through the weekend.

The Tri-Cities has had two days in May with highs of 90 degrees, most recently on Tuesday.

On May 2, the other 90-degree-day, the temperature averaged 12.8 degrees above normal. It tied the historical record high for the day.

But upcoming highs are expected to cool to the 60s, according to the weather service.

A high of 74 is forecast for Thursday in the Tri-Cities, with high temperature expected to drop to 69 on Friday, 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday.

Normal highs for mid-May in the Tri-Cities are about 76.
