Winter weather warning for Snoqualmie Pass. I-90 eastbound lanes closed
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed near the Snoqualmie Pass summit about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday due to multiple spinouts and crashes.
The Washington state Department of Transportation said lanes reopened about 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service on Monday predicted two to four feet on new snow at the pass from Tuesday through Thursday as a strong frontal system was forecast to move into the state.
Chains had been required on I-90 at the summit Tuesday afternoon. The Department of Transportation reported snow was falling and there was snow and slush on the roadway shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A winter weather warning has been issued by the National Weather Service through Thursday afternoon.
The weather service called for four to eight inches of new snow Tuesday at the pass with three to five more inches possible overnight.
The Wednesday forecast is for four to eight inches of snow and then three to seven inches at night.
Thursday three to five inches are forecast with one to two inches Thursday night.
Temperatures should warm by the weekend, with rain forecast, possibly mixed with snow.
