Chance of 1st snow for Tri-Cities. But don’t expect it to stick
The Tri-Cities could see its first snowfall of the season in the coming nights.
But blink and you could miss it.
Saturday evening a 20% chance of rain or snow is forecast in the Tri-Cities until 10 p.m. by the National Weather Service.
The snow level will be dropping from 900 feet to 500 feet after midnight. Much of the Tri-Cities is just above 400 feet, rising to about 1,000 feet just south of Kennewick near the Interstate 82 and Highway 395 interchange.
Snow also is possible on Monday night.
A 30% chance of rain and snow is forecast between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. by the weather service.
Overnight lows will be dropping into the 20s after it was down to 40 on Thanksgiving in the Tri-Cities.
Saturday should be the coldest of the coming days, with a low of 27 forecast.
High temperatures are expected to drop from 49 forecast for Black Friday to 38 on Sunday and Monday, before warming to the low 40s.
December usually starts with lows of 29 degrees and highs of about 43 in the Tri-Cities, according to weather service data.
