Damaging thunderstorms forecast for most of WA and OR, including Tri-Cities

Thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening across much of Washington and Oregon, including the Tri-Cities of Eastern Washington, according to the National Weather Service.

The highest potential for severe storms, with damaging winds and hail, is along the Cascade Mountain range and just to the east, according to the weather service.

But isolated storms are possible in the Mid-Columbia from west of the Tri-Cities to Sunnyside and from the Tri-Cities into Idaho to the east.

A strong offshore low-pressure system is forecast to bring warm, moist air into the Pacific Northwest, creating conditions for thunderstorms.

Any thunderstorms are most likely around 5 p.m., the weather service forecasts. That will change to likely rain by 11 p.m. Wednesday, with rain likely through Thursday morning and wind gusts of up to 22 mph.
