Some Tri-Cities schools close, others delay starts as snow coats the region
The Tri-Cities woke up to a second day of fresh snow Wednesday, with about a half inch turning the ground white.
Pasco School District closed for the day after initially announcing a delayed start.
Most Tri-Cities area schools remained open but on a two-hour delay.
Some rural roads were slick, but there were no immediate reports of serious crashes.
The National Weather Service forecasts a slight chance of more snow after 4 p.m. Wednesday, with a possible mix of rain and snow in the evening.
Snow is possible again Friday morning, with a 30% chance forecast between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.
School announcements
Kennewick School District: 2 hours late. There will still be an early release for grades K-8. Early release for grades 9-12 is canceled and moved to Feb. 12.
Pasco School District: Closed. All athletic and school events canceled.
Richland School District: 2 hour delay. School buses on snow routes. No breakfast. Morning sessions for the Early Learning Center and Tapteal early learning classes canceled.
Finley Sch. Dist.: Closed after initially announcing a 2 hour delay. Sports and activities canceled.
Columbia Sch. Dist. (Burbank): 2 Hours Late. Morning buses on snow routes,
Kiona-Benton City Sch. Dist.: 2 Hours Late. No morning Tri-Tech or breakfast.
Benton Franklin Head Start: 2 Hours Late, No morning Headstart.
Touchet Sch. Dist.: 2 Hours Late.
Walla Walla Sch. Dist.: 2 Hours Late.
Waitsburg School District: 2 Hours Late, No morning preschool. Classes begin at 10:30 a.m.
Bethlehem Lutheran School: 2 Hours Late. Eagles’ Nest opens at 8:30.
Liberty Christian School Tri-Cities: 2 Hours Late.
Benton Franklin Head Start: 2 Hours Late. No morning Headstart.
Calvary Christian School: 2 Hours Late.
Christ the King School: 2 Hours Late. No Zero Hour. 10:25 a.m. Start Time.
Kingspoint Christian School: 2 Hours Late.
