Wind in Tri-Cities Veterans Day weekend forecast. Plus forecast for I-90 WA, I-84 OR

Wind gusts of up to 44 mph are forecast Saturday in the Tri-Cities, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is issued for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Gusts are expected to start as early as 7 a.m. and reach peak speeds at 2 p.m.

Sustained wind speeds of 23 to 26 mph are forecast from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The wind could be stronger north of the Tri-Cities.

Highs should be in the 50s Friday through Monday in the Tri-Cities, with Veterans Day being the warmest with a high of 59 forecast.

High temperatures are expected to cool into the upper 40s from Tuesday through at least Thursday. But lows are forecast to remain above freezing.

Tri-Cities travelers heading across the Cascade Mountains to Western Washington on the Veterans Day weekend can expect rain or snow on Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass Friday through early in the coming week.

Any snow is likely to be blowing across the roadway as wind gusts reach as high as 30 mph on Veterans Day and 21 mph on Sunday.

However, little or no snow is expected to accumulate over the weekend, according to the weather service.

Tri-Cities travelers heading east on Interstate 84 through Oregon can expect rain, but snow is unlikely.

State Route 410 over Chinook Pass through Mount Rainier National Park was scheduled to close Friday evening due to icy roads and expected snow, the Washington state Department of Transportation said.

It hopes to reopen the road again this season, but the weather will determine if that is possible, it said.

Travelers can again rely on the Washington state Department of Transportation mountain pass report as they cross the Cascade Mountains.

That part of the state site was down earlier in the week due to a cyberattack, according to the Seattle Times.
