Winds to pound Tri-Cities today. Where and when it will be the strongest
The Tri-Cities is under a wind advisory Monday, with gusts up to 36 mph in town and up to 45 to 50 mph just north of town at the Hanford nuclear reservation site.
Semi trucks, campers and other high-profile vehicles will find travel difficult across the Mid-Columbia, said the National Weather Service.
The forecast for wind speeds in the Tri-Cities of Eastern Washington varies.
In Richland, sustained wind speeds of 18 to 25 mph are forecast until 7 p.m., with gusts up to 36 mph with the strongest wind from 10 a.m. to noon.
In Kennewick, the forecast calls for sustained wind speeds of 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Peak wind speeds are expected from 10 a.m. to noon.
Winds in Pasco will be 10 to 14 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, increasing to 24 mph in West Pasco, with the strongest wind from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.
