Freezing fog turns Tri-Cities roadways slippery

Freezing fog was making road slippery around the Mid-Columbia region on Friday morning.

The freezing fog advisory, with black ice on many roadways, was in effect until 2 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Pasco School District and many smaller districts in the Yakima Valley were on a two-hour delays and morning preschool was canceled because of the slick conditions.

The Prosser School District closed, according to an update from the district.

The Prosser and Othello branches of Mid-Columbia Libraries did not plan to open until noon.

Ben Franklin Transit was bypassing Olympia and Dayton street tops on Route 47 at 27th Avenue.

The start time for the 11,000 employees of the Hanford site was not delayed, but workers were urged to be cautious during the morning commute because of icy roads.
