Blowing dust could put some grit into Labor Day picnics and barbecues around the Mid-Columbia region.

The National Weather Service issued a wind and blowing dust advisory until 8 p.m. Monday. And with it comes a Red Flag Warning for increased fire danger.

The wind is expected to start kicking up mid-morning Monday, with widespread blowing dust forecast mostly after 2 p.m.

Winds will be about 23 to 33 mph in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 46 mph. The daytime high in the Tri-Cities will be about 84.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 77 and winds slowing to 11 to 13 mph.

Temperatures will continue to warm all week, reaching the mid-90s by Friday, said the weather service.
