Harnessing the wind for an afternoon sail

A sailor gets a well-heeled ride as gusty conditions tip his sail boat before turning into the wind during an outing Wednesday on the Columbia River near the Franklin County shoreline, upriver of the blue bridge.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for daytime windy conditions to ease as sun and temperatures warm to the high 80s Thursday and Friday. Saturday will be the hottest day of the week, with highs near 98.
