45-mph Tri-Cities wind gusts forecast. And snow to pound Snoqualmie Pass

Wind gusts of up to 45 mph are forecast Sunday for the Tri-Cities. And travelers driving home from the west side of Washington state can expect a slow and snowy drive.

The National Weather Service predicts that sustained wind speeds will increase through the morning from 17 to 22 mph to as high as 24 to 29 mph in the Tri-Cities, with stronger gusts. And rain is likely.

Sunday night also is expected to be windy, with wind speeds dropping to 11 to 15 mph on Monday.

Heavy snow is forecast for the Cascade Mountains in Washington state. A total of 8 to 12 inches are possible on Interstate 90 near Easton from Saturday night through Monday, according to the weather service.

At Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 Sunday as much as 9 to 13 inches of snow could accumulate, according to the weather forecast.

Wind gusts of up to 26 mph could cause blowing snow.
